Journey Through Time:
The Riverhead Bicentennial 1792-1992
Saturday, August 28, 10 am - noon
Community Volunteerism — Then and Now is the topic for the Library’s third annual local history book discussion, rescheduled from May. Richard Wines, a local historian and chairman of the Riverhead Landmarks Preservation Commission, will talk about the history of volunteerism in Riverhead, followed by a group discussion. Share how you have contributed to your community or learn
how you can help. There will be time set aside for participants to exchange business cards and handouts about their organizations. Sign up for the program and pick up a copy of the suggested reading, Journey Through Time:
The Riverhead Bicentennial 1792-1992, edited by Barbara Austen, at the Adult Reference Desk. Everyone is encouraged to come whether or not they have read the book. We will be filming the event for our archives, so you will also be asked to sign a release form. Join us for refreshments and a lively discussion.
