  • Riverhead Free Library cardholders may access materials from other public libraries in Suffolk County and beyond. Cardholders may place their own holds in the Library catalog, or may apply to a Reference Librarian for assistance.

  • Internet Instruction Classes
  • Reference Librarians teach computer classes on a variety of topics. Riverhead Free Library cardholders may register for these small-group, hands-on classes. See the Library’s current newsletter for up-to-date information on computer classes.

  • Ask A Reference Question
  • Librarians are available to answer your reference questions in the Library or remotely. Click above to fill out an Ask! form or to chat online with a Librarian.

    • Live-brary Homework Help
    • Live online homework help is available to all Library cardholders via the cooperative Suffolk Homework Help service. Tutors are available seven days per week, 2 pm to 11 pm. Cardholders may use the service in the Library or from home.

    • Local Schools Required Reading
    • Local schools’ required reading lists are available in The Loft. The Library makes every effort to offer multiple copies of these items, in support of local curricula.

    • College Information
    • Brochures from local colleges, SAT review books, and scholarship information are all available in The Loft. Click above to explore all college resources.

      • Story Time / Play Times
      • Librarian-led story times and play times are available at various times throughout the year. See the Library’s current newsletter to see the schedule and which activity suits you and your child.

      • Special Collections
      • Librarians have put together special interest collections for children and families, including a collection of books and audiovisual materials for both new and experienced parents.

      • TumbleBooks
      • TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks - animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Families can access TumbleBooks in the Library or from home.


        The Library offers 28 computers for public use. Our three computer labs are Internet-connected and are located in age-specific areas of the Library. Visitors are welcome to apply for a pass for daily use. Color and B&W printing is available in all labs, in addition to commonly-used software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

        Wireless Internet access is available throughout the Library. Any device compatible with the 802.11b/g protocol can connect and use the Internet.
