What is the Seed Library?
The Seed Library is a collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds that you can “check out” to plant at home.
Our collection changes seasonally. So, you’ll see different seeds available at different times.

How do I check out seeds?
Your Riverhead Free Library Card is your key to borrowing seeds.
Households may request three different varieties of seeds each week.
Our list of available seeds changes from week to week.
Please wait a full week before making a new request to ensure the availability and changing variety of seeds.
How will I receive my seeds?
You can choose to have seed packets mailed to your home or you may pick them up at the Reference Desk.
If you choose the latter option, you will be contacted when your seeds are ready for pickup.
Do I have to return seeds?
No. You do not have to return seeds.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are currently not accepting seeds for sharing.
Once certain restrictions have been lifted, we will reconsider the process of accepting seeds.
