Logging-In To Your Patron Account

Riverhead Free Library provides access to your patron record over the Internet. You can use the top navigation bar on this website to access "My Account" which will take you to the login screen. At this point you will need to enter your barcode number from your library card (starting with 20646... do not enter spaces from the number). If you have not previously logged-in to your account you will need to establish a password. Scroll down to the 'Passwords' section on this page for more information.

You can provide your email address to the Library in order to receive overdue notices and hold notices via email. In addition, you’ll receive “courtesy” notices several days before your checked-out items are due, and notices related to program registration.

Log into your patron account using your barcode and password. Click on “Change Your Contact Information.” This opens a new window in which you can enter your email address and select the button allowing notices by email.

Please note that the Library will never sell or rent your email address, or use it for any purpose other than contacting you regarding your Library account.


The first time you log in to your account, you will be able to set a password.

From the Library’s website top navigation bar, click on “My Account.” Enter the barcode number from your Library card, then type in any password you wish. The system will ask for a confirmation (type the password again), then the password is set.

If you already have a password established but have forgotten it. You can click on the "Forgot Your Password?" link to have the password e-mailed to you. If you do not have e-mail or did not establish an address with your library account, you may call the Circulation Desk to assist you.

To change your password while logged into your account, click on the "Change Your Password" box to the right of your name and address.


To pay fines that have accumulated on your account, log into your patron account using your barcode and password. Click on the link indicating your total fines and bills. If your total exceeds $5, click on the "Pay Your Library Fines Online" button.

Select the fines that you wish to pay or accept the default (paying all fines). Fill in the billing address and credit card information, then click on the "Submit" button. Confirm the payment information and print your receipt, if desired. A receipt will be sent to you via email, and the fine will removed from your record immediately.

You may also choose to visit the Library and pay your fines at the Circulation Desk.
