Program Description

Event Details

A hernia usually happens in your abdomen or groin when a weakness or a preexisting opening in your muscle or connective tissue allows an organ or other tissue to push through the barrier.  Overall, hernias are common and most hernias aren’t serious, but they can be. Dr. Alexa-Rae Pesce, who specializes in general and acute surgery at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, will discuss the different types of hernias and their causes, symptoms and diagnosis, as well as surgical options for repair. This program is sponsored by Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.  Please contact your local library, or Cutchogue New Suffolk Library at (631) 734-6360 for a registration link.
